About Dr. Shields

Dr. Shields attended Washington University in St. Louis, MO as an undergraduate and received his medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine. After completing internship at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, he served his residency in Ophthalmology at Washington University School of Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Shields is the Chief of Ophthalmology for St. Luke’s Hospital located in Chesterfield, MO and he is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine where he teaches ophthalmic surgery to residents. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He was a recipient of the Ben Goldfeller Volunteer Service award from the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2016.
